Marc Stone

Threadhead Records artist Marc Stone has been a professional musician in New Orleans for 15 years, playing with many of Louisiana's great artists. In addition to his shows with his own group around New Orleans, Marc tours frequently in Europe with his Acoustic Blues duo and is a member of one of Louisiana's hottest Zydeco bands, the legendary Rockin' Dopsie Jr. and the Zydeco Twisters. He also plays steel guitar with Africa-New Orleans super-group Fatien Ensemble and Derrick Freeman's Smoker's World.

Marc produces many special musical projects, including the current CD by NEA Heritage Awards winners and Sacred Steel Gospel masters the Campbell Brothers. Marc brought the Campbells together with Louisiana greats Kirk Joseph, Shannon McNally, Arlee Leonard, David Easley and a host of others for a concert to benefit the New Orleans Musicians' Clinic in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, resulting in an album and numerous concerts, including an appearance at Lincoln Center. Marc also backed soul legend Betty Harris with a 10 piece all-star band and led the Louisiana Blues Throwdown featuring Ernie Vincent, Walter "Wolfman" Washington, Jumpin' Johnny Sansone, "Papa" John Gros and others on nightclub and festival appearances in the U.S. and Europe.

As a sideman, Marc has backed countless artists, including Eddie Bo, Terrance Simien, Ernie K-Doe, Marva Wright, Tommy Ridgely, Marcia Ball, Henry Gray, and C.J. Chenier.

When he's not on stage or in the studio, Marc is on the air as host and programmer of the Soul Serenade every Tuesday from 2-4pm CST on New Orleans' Jazz and Heritage station, WWOZ 90.7 FM.
