Chubby Carrier at Cajun-Zydeco Fest in 2013
"I want it, I want it! I need it, I need it!" Here's WWOZ Cookbook contributor Roy "Chubby" Carrier of Church Point in Acadia Parish, with "Zydeco Junkie", the title song from his 2010 Grammy-winning album.
Carrier is a third generation of zydeco artist. He learned accordion from his father, and after a stint as Terrence Simien's drummer, formed his own group in 1989.
