We will be broadcasting live on Friday January 18th when the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation presents another stellar event in its Jazz Journey Concert Series. On the heels of Chucho Valdes' phenomenal peformance at The Joy Theater in November, the next concert will take place at Dillard University's Lawless Memorial Chappel at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free!

A singer, songwriter and actor, Los Angeles-native Gregory Porter released his debut album, Water, in 2010 and was nominated for a Grammy Award for "best jazz vocal album." He was also a member of the original Broadway cast of It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues.
Barbara Morrison is known for her powerful voice, with its two-and-a-half-octave range, and her soulful and highly spirited interpretations jazz, gospel and pop songs, she is a familiar figure on the world jazz circuit. Barbara will be backed by a stellar group of New Orleans jazz players: Thaddeus Richard (piano), Detroit Brooks (guitar), Roland Guerin (bass), Herlin Riley (drums).
Trumpeter Warren "Porgy" Jones is one of the unsung heroes of New Orleans jazz. Active on the jazz scene in and out of the Crescent City since the 1960s, Porgy is known for emphasizing the links between jazz, R&B and funk. Vocalist Ed Perkins will be performing with the Porgy Jones Band.
