The 2017 Treme/7th Ward Arts & Culture Festival returns to the space beneath the Claiborne bridge this Memorial Day weekend. The festival celebrates the history, traditions, and culture of two of the oldest, most notable neighborhoods in the United States. These vibrant and culturally rich neighborhoods have spawned decades of talent and pride from their streets, including many of this year's performers. 

This year will also feature Arts & Cultural Panel Discussions on Friday, May 26 with historians, authors, and community leaders as they discuss the history of the neighborhoods. Panelists will describe differences and similarities between the two areas and audience members can learn how each community survived through its traditions, craftsmanship, dance, food, and unique skills which have evolved to create the two neighborhoods as we know them today. Events include "Treme: Past, Present, Future," at the Treme Market Branch (800 N. Claiborne) at 10a-12p and 2p-4p; "7th Ward Architecture, Culture, and Social Interaction" at the Autocrat Social Aid & Pleasure Club (1725 St. Bernard Ave.). at 10a-12p and 2p-4p.

This year's music lineup includes the Treme Brass Band, Shannon Powell, James Andrews, Corey Henry & the Treme Funktet, Bamboula 2000, Kid Merv, Andrews Family Band, and many more. Check out the full performance schedule below.
