Plan to join us in the French Quarter on the night of Thursday, September 1, when Tableau Restaurant and Le Petit Theatre host the return of our Groove Gala. Get ready to put on your Jazz Fest attire and party all evening with an amazing music lineup that includes John Boutté, Irma Thomas, Bruce "Sunpie" Barnes, Amanda Shaw, Doreen Ketchens, Meschiya Lake and Al "Little Fats" Jackson.

'OZ Summer Merch Sale

We're happy to offer a selection of WWOZ merchandise to 'OZ members and listeners who want to show off their WWOZ pride and help us spread the good word about the station! Jazz & Heritage Summer Concert Series

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation's Summer Concert Series kicked off last night with a set by Bon Bon Vivant. Tuba Skinny is up next on June 25; the series also includes Gal Holiday & the Honky Tonk Revue (July 9), Arnséne Delay (July 16), and Lynn Drury (July 23). Shows happen at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center, tickets are $10, and seating is limited, so please register in advance. If you missed last night's Bon Bon Vivant set, you can watch it on YouTube and on our Facebook page.

This Weekend: Takin' It To the Streets

This weekend, we've got a pair of end-of-season parades. On Saturday, Men of Power present a Community Peace Walk starting at 8:30am from United Fellowship Full Gospel in the 7th Ward. Recipe: Cheese Grits Soufflé

This recipe is an unusual combination of European haute cuisine (soufflé) and an earthy Southern staple (grits). It's hearty and vegetarian, and something about it screams "brunch." It's also pretty easy--grits create structure, so it's less finicky and apt to collapse than cheese or chocolate soufflés. There's a very similar dish called "Awendaw Soufflé" in South Carolina.
