Upcoming Shows

Dr. Lonnie Smith, a legend of the Hammond B-3 organ, will perform in a Jazz Journey Concert Series on Saturday, Aug. 27, at the Contemporary Arts Center. The amazing Herlin Riley will be on drums along with guitarist Jonathan Kreisberg.

This Jazz Journey concert is presented by the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation and the Contemporary Arts Center, with generous support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Louisiana Division of the Arts and the Arts Council of New Orleans.


About Dr. Lonnie Smith

Born in Lackawanna, NY, Lonnie Smith started as a singer in 1950s vocal ensembles. He moved to New York City where, in 1966, he began a fruitful collaboration with guitarist George Benson. Smith recorded the first of his more than 30 albums as a leader in 1967. Many jazz greats have accompanied him live and on records, including Lee Morgan, David "Fathead" Newman, King Curtis, Terry Bradds, Blue Mitchell and Joe Lovano.
