The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra was founded in 2002 by Irivin Mayfield when he realized that New Orleans, the birthplace of jazz, did not have an istitution dedicated to the business of its musical legacy. NOJO was created as a vehicle preserve and strengthen the jazz industry in New Orleans as well as to

Over the past 10 years NOJO has headlined performances at major venues around the country, inaugurated New Orleans' first ticketed jazz concert series, established educational programs for young musicians in conjunction with the University of New Orleans, and certainly not to be forgotton: NOJO's last album "BOOK ONE" earned a 2010 Grammy Award for "Best Large Jazz Ensemble."
