New Orleans Music Show host George Ingmire shared a special tribute to the late Leah Chase on Wednesday, June 5. The show is now available on our 2-week archive.
George aired audio excerpts and outtakes from Chasing Dreams, a documentary film directed by William Sabourin and produced by visual artist Willie Birch, about the historic chef and Civil Rights activist.
The family of Mrs. Leah Chase will be holding a Public Viewing on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 10a to 4:30p at the Xavier University Convocation Center (7910 Stroelitz St., Gert Town, New Orleans). A celebratory program will be held at 6p. All are invited to attend.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 10 at noon at the St. Peter Claver Catholic Church (1923 St. Philip St., Treme, New Orleans). Visitation will be from 8a-10:30a and The Rosary will begin immediately following visitation. Please note that seating at the church is limited.
Following the Mass, a dirge will proceed to Dooky Chase's Restaurant before the Chase family goes on to St. Louis Cemetery No. 3. From the cemetery, there will be a traditional second line to the New Orleans Museum of Art for a public repass.
