New Orleans may not have white Christmases, but we're not lacking in the holiday (or any type of) spirit. One beautiful and classic (and free) December tradition marries some of the best local musicians with one of our most famous landmarks-- the St. Louis Cathedral at Jackson Square.
French Quarter Festivals, Inc. is putting on fourteen free concerts featuring New Orleans performers and choirs from now through December 21 at the church. Every show starts at 6pm and is free and open to the public. Performances will feature Christmas carols, seasonal, and gospel favorites.
Leroy Jones kicked the series off last night and there are plenty of great performances left. A few highlights: tonight, the Crescent City Brass Quintet will be performing classical harp music. Ellis Marsallis plays on December 4 and Tim Laughlin on December 9. Hot Club of New Orleans is December 16 and there's a Christmas Organ Spectacular on December 18.
