Jeff "Snake" Greenberg

Jeff "Snake" Greenberg was born in Philadelphia, PA, and started playing piano at age 5. At the age of 14 he composed a score for the Yale Drama School, at 15 he made his Carnegie Recital Hall debut and at 16 recorded for the RCA Red Seal label. After attending New York University and Berklee College of Music, where he studied piano and arranging, Jeff continued his studies privately with such teachers as Don Sebesky, Sanford Gold and Ronnie Fabre.

Jeff performed regularly in Atlantic City and later moved to New York City where he worked as a studio musician and singer for TV and radio commercials, and became the house arranger for a major jingle company. He also worked on cruise ships as an entertainer, a singer/pianist and an orchestra musician and served as musical director for several cruise lines.

From 2002 until 2006, Jeff was the musical director of "The Rat Pack is Back" - a show re-creating the shows of the early 60s by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., and Joey Bishop. He played piano, conducted the orchestra and contributed musical arrangements to the show.

In 2006 after a near death experience, Jeff felt the needed to explore his musical roots, and moved to New Orleans. He has become a strong exponent of the piano styles of Professor Longhair, James Booker, Huey "Piano" Smith, Tuts Washington and the accordion style of Clifton Chenier. He combines these sounds with the swing and jump styles of Louis Jordan, Nat Cole, Joe Liggins and others.

Jeff is also a substitute show host on WWOZ 90.7 FM in New Orleans.
