Communities in Need

While New Orleans was largely spared from the devastion of Hurricane Gustav, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Terrebonne Parish and Lafourche Parish suffered extensive flooding and wind damage. For coastal Louisiana, this bad situation was exacerbated by the storm surge and winds from Hurricane Ike. We are waiting for more information about the effects of Hurricane Ike in Southwest Louisiana. Here are ways to get more information and find out what you can do to help.

• Pointe-au-Chien Tribal Community: When the eye of Hurricane Gustav ripped through their community, almost every house in lower Pointe-au-Chien was damaged or destroyed. Find out how you can assist in the relief effort.
• United Houma Nation: Find out how to contribute to The United Houma Nation's struggle to rebuild after Hurricane Gustav.
